MOORHEAD (KFGO) – A man is in jail after fleeing from police in Fargo and Moorhead before crashing a stolen U-Haul into a snowbank in Moorhead.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, 40-year-old David Jacobsen, of Moorhead, was arrested Sunday for receiving stolen property and fleeing police in a motor vehicle.
Around 5:15 p.m. Sunday, a Fargo police officer found the U-Haul that was previously reported stolen in the 2100 block of Main Avenue. The officer attempted a traffic stop, but the truck fled and the officer did not pursue.
A short time later, the U-Haul was seen on I-94 in Fargo headed toward Moorhead.
A Minnesota State trooper located the U-haul and attempted a traffic stop with lights and sirens activated. The driver fled again. The trooper briefly pursued the truck, but stopped in the interest of public safety.
The driver eventually crashed into a snowbank at 17th Street and 34th Avenue S. in Moorhead and was taken into custody.
Jacobsen was booked into the Clay County Jail in Moorhead.
