ST. PAUL, Minn. – A bill legalizing recreational cannabis is getting closer to a vote in the Minnesota House.
Republican Rep. Ron Kresha of Little Falls said he can’t support legal marijuana.
“There’s a moral and ethical aversion, and that’s okay. Some people are still morally opposed to this. I’m one of them,” Kresha said.
Democratic Rep. Zack Stephenson of Coon Rapids said prohibition is not working.
“It is not difficult, if you are a young person in Minnesota who wants to consume cannabis, to get cannabis,” Stephenson said. “So, if your goal is to keep cannabis away from young people, the current system is failing.
The bill will be heard in 14 House committees, and has passed nine so far this session.
