ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is celebrating the 10th anniversary of its Eagle Cam program this year.
Wildlife information officer Lori Naumann said they used nongame wildlife donations to purchase and install the first camera and microphone.
“It was pretty significant for 2013. It was a big deal back then,” Naumann said. “There weren’t that many webcams and certainly not an eagle nest.”
Naumann said they finally got a new microphone this year that works.
The Eagle Cam has been viewed in 186 countries around the world. The eagle laid the first egg of the season on Wednesday and another is expected soon.
