NEW YORK MILLS, Minn. (KFGO) – A man is in custody after an active shooter incident at Lund Boat company in New York Mills Thursday morning.
The Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office said 21-year-old David Gadsden of Henning is in the Otter Tail County Jail pending criminal charges after he pulled out a handgun and shot at another employee during a verbal argument. The 31-year-old victim was not hit but Gadsden chased him outside the factory, where authorities say he may have fired another round. The victim was able to escape and another employee stopped Gadsden from getting back into the building by holding the door shut. Other employees caught and held Gadsden outside as he tried to flee before law enforcement arrived.
Otter Tail County Sheriff Barry Fitzgibbons said the shooting was reported at about 7:20 a.m. He credited employees for quickly intervening and subduing the suspect before New York Mills Police and deputies from his department arrived.
One person suffered a minor injury while helping to subdue the suspect.
New York Mills is between Perham and Wadena on Highway 10, about 80 miles southeast of Fargo-Moorhead.
