Alan Walker (Cass County Jail)
FARGO (KFGO) – A Moorhead man is in the Cass County jail after causing a head-on crash north of Hickson/Oxbow early Monday, then fleeing the scene.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol says 28-year-old Alan Walker was southbound on Cass County Road 81 when his SUV crossed the center line and hit another SUV driven by 37-year-old Marisa Merkel of Fargo just after 1:00 a.m., causing both vehicles to go into the ditch.
Merkel and her passenger, 46-year-old Brandon Johnson of Fargo, were transported by ambulance to Essentia for non-life threatening injuries.
Walker, meanwhile, fled the scene to his home in rural Clay County, where he was located by Clay County Sheriffs deputies and brought to the hospital to be treated for his injuries. At Sanford, Walker again tried to flee while being treated for his injuries and after being arrested for driving under the influence, but a state trooper was able to stop him.
Walker has also been charged with DUI refusal, driving under suspension, criminal vehicular injury, duty in accident involving injury, and escape. He is being held in the Cass County Jail.
