ALEXANDRIA, Minn. (KFGO) – A co-owner of a construction and snow removal company in central Minnesota is in jail and facing theft and fraud charges for contracting work he never did.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said Derek Fischer, 33, is a part owner of RockSolid Construction and Snow Removal, LLC. He is accused of accepting nearly $115,000 to build a house and shed near Alexandria, but not doing the work and then blocking the victim from contacting him.
Investigators said they have found another victim in Crow Wing County and believe there could be other victims in the state.
Fischer has been charged with theft by swindle and by false representation. Both are felonies.
Bail has been set at $3,000.
