MAPLEWOOD, Minn. – A not-guilty plea has been entered by a Maplewood man in connection with the death of his girlfriend’s 17-month-old daughter.
Terrance Leslie, 26, is charged with second-degree murder after police were called to a home and found the child with significant burns. She died at the hospital.
Leslie told investigators that the burns were the result of unattended bathtub water, but police say they found signs of ongoing physical abuse. The child’s mother was at work at the time. She has not been charged.
If Leslie is found guilty he could serve up to 40 years in prison.
