EDGELEY, N.D. (KFGO) โ Fire destroyed part of the grain elevator in Edgeley Friday night.
โThe elevator was built in different stages over the years, and the wood structure is completely gone,โ Fire Chief Steve Powers said. โThe cement structure that was added on is all still standing.โ
Powers says they donโt know what started the fire. A citizen told KFGO News the elevator was fully engulfed at 7:30 p.m.
The call came in around 6:30 p.m., and crews from Edgeley, Kulm, and LaMoure battled the blaze until around 2 a.m. Saturday.
โThe fire is still smoldering,โ Powers said. โItโs under control. Itโll probably be under control for quite some time. A lot of grain was in that wood structureโ
Powers said he is thankful there were no injuries and for the help his crew got from neighboring departments.
โIt was a bad fire, but nobody got hurt,โ Powers said. โStructures can be rebuilt. No other property was damaged. I think the Edgeley, Kulm, and LaMoure fire departments did an outstanding job and weโll move on from here.โ
The state fire marshal has been contacted and will investigate the fire.
Edgeley is about 40 south of Jamestown.
