FARGO (KFGO) – In Cass County, two key races came down to the wire, while the race for Sheriff was a runaway victory for the incumbent.
Jesse Jahner will serve another four year term as Sheriff after earning nearly 80% of the vote. Jahner faced a challenge by one of his deputies, Mat King.
In the only contested County Commission race, Tony Grindberg bested Ben Hanson by less than 500 votes to win the District 2 seat. Grindberg previously served in the state Senate and on the Fargo City Commission.
And, in the Cass County State’s Attorney race, which saw two assistant states attorneys face off against each other for the position which has been held by Birch Burdick since 1998, Kim Hegvik beat Ryan Younggren by 650 votes. Burdick did not seek another term.
