(UND Athletics) GRAND FORKS, N.D. – North Dakota women’s basketball, under the direction of head coach Mallory Bernhard, announced the release of the full schedule on Monday. The schedule features one exhibition and 29 regular season games. The season is highlighted by 14 games at the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center.
North Dakota opens the season with a home exhibition match against Northern State University on Nov. 2. The regular season slate begins at home as they host Detroit Mercy on Nov. 7. The Fighting Hawks remain at home as they welcome a familiar opponent from the Mountain West Conference, Wyoming.
NoDak begins the road season with a trip west to face two former Big Sky foes from Montana. They begin the battle in Big Sky Country against Montana State on Friday, Nov. 18 before heading up the road to play Montana on Sunday, Nov. 20.
The journey continues in Phoenix for the GCU Thanksgiving Tournament. The Fighting Hawks square off against the host, Grand Canyon, on Friday, Nov. 25. The venture continues as they square off against a first-time foe, Manhattan College.
UND returns to the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center on Friday, Dec. 2 to face Wisconsin-Superior before returning to the road for one game before a long home stand. They head east to tussle with Eastern Michigan on Sunday, Dec. 4.
North Dakota returns to Grand Forks to host four straight home games. They welcome a familiar rival from the Big Sky, Weber State, on Saturday, Dec. 10 before rounding out the non-conference schedule with Mayville State on Monday, Dec. 12.
The Fighting Hawks begin the conference season at home against second-year league member St. Thomas on Monday, Dec. 19 before hosting Western Illinois on Wednesday, Dec. 21.
To close out 2022, NoDak takes a trip down I-29 to play its inner-state rival North Dakota State on New Year’s Eve (Saturday, Jan. 31). The travel south continues as the Hawks head to the Mount Rushmore State to open 2023 with tussles against regular season co-champions South Dakota on Thursday, Jan. 5 and South Dakota State on Saturday, Jan. 7.
North Dakota returns to Grand Forks to host battles against Omaha on Thursday, Jan. 12 and Denver on Saturday, Jan. 14. They round out the January road swing against Kansas City on Thursday, Jan. 19 and Oral Roberts on Saturday, Jan. 21.
The Fighting Hawks end January at home with a showdown against the Bison on Saturday, Jan. 28. The home stand continues into February, as they square off with the Jackrabbits on Thursday, Feb. 2 and the Coyotes on Saturday, Feb. 4.
UND flies west to face the Pioneers on Thursday, Feb. 9 and then heads to Omaha for a contest against the Mavericks on Saturday, Feb. 11 before returning home.
The final home slate begins on Thursday, Feb. 16 as NoDak hosts the Golden Eagles before an encounter with the Roos on Saturday, Feb. 18.
The Fighting Hawks closes out the regular season on the road against the Leathernecks on Thursday, Feb. 23 and the Tommies on Saturday, Feb. 25.
The 2023 Summit League Women’s Basketball Championship returns to its familiar home at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center in Sioux Falls, S.D. for the eighth time. For the first time in League history, the 2023 Women’s Basketball Championship will feature all 10 members with St. Thomas competing in its first basketball tournament as a League member. The new format will cover five days on the calendar, starting March 3 and culminating with the respective title games on Tuesday, March 7. The tournament champion will earn an automatic berth to the NCAA Division I Basketball Championships.
