ST. LOUIS, Mo. – University of North Dakota kicker Brady Stevens was one of four players to gain player of the week honors from the Missouri Valley Football Conference on Sunday evening, earning the title of Special Teams Player of the Week.
Stevens played a key role in starting the comeback against No. 7 Missouri State on Saturday. He made a career-long 42-yard field goal on North Dakota’s first possession to trim the deficit to 7-3 and later made a 35-yarder as time expired in the first half to cut the deficit to 21-20. He was a perfect 4-for-4 on extra points in the 48-31 victory. The Highlands Ranch, Colo., native was also exceptional after scoring, recording eight kickoffs for 485 yards for an average of 60.6 yards per kick to go with two touchbacks.
This season alone, Stevens has scored 32 points and ranks No. 14 in the MVFC for total points scored. He also ranks sixth in the conference in scoring, averaging 6.4 points per game. In the kicking game, Stevens is 6-for-8 on the year with the two misses coming from beyond 40 yards. He is 14-for-14 on extra points.
North Dakota will be back on the road this weekend at Youngstown State. The Fighting Hawks and Penguins are slated for a 5 p.m. (CT) kick in Youngstown.
