Cass County Sheriff's Lt. Tommy Ray
FARGO (KFGO) – The Cass County Sheriff’s Office has released documents regarding an internal investigation it conducted into a lieutenant at the county jail in 2021 after an anonymous email was sent to media detailing the incident.
The documents show that Lt. Tommy Ray was investigated in September of last year after he sent an unsolicited text message to a deputy who he supervised which contained a nude photo of himself. Ray told jail supervisor Andy Frobig that the message, which was sent from his work-issued phone, was sent to the deputy in error and was meant for his wife. He also admitted to having used the phone to send similar messages previously.
Ray was found to have violated county policy after the investigation and was given a written reprimand in his personnel file to cease any future misuse of county electronic devices. He remains on the job.
The anonymous email was sent to members of the Fargo media by a source going by the name of Code4Media, which said its goal is to hold elected officials accountable and represent victims when the system has failed them.
