FARGO (KFGO) – Fargo City Commissioners, labeling a house dangerous by building inspectors, has ordered the building at 924 Fifth St. South, demolished by November 18. The vote was unanimous.
Netty Burger is one of the neighbors frightened by the number of people still living in the house, drug deals, dangerous violations of city code, rubbish, and some 550 police calls since December of 2018.
She said since she moved there, one of the first things she was told by neighbors was not to have anything to do with the man living in the house because he was dangerous and he would retaliate. Police told her the same thing and Burger said that 24 years later, the problem continues.
Another neighbor, Richard Moorhead, told the city commission, “our neighborhood is scared and so we’re looking for help.”
City Inspections Director Shawn Ouradnik said both the interior and exterior of the house and garage were inspected in July, the owner Dan Curtis, was notified that the structure was posted as dangerous and it was secured, even though there are still people in the house.
