WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Inflation Reduction Act signed into law this week by President Joe Biden includes a $2,000 cap for out-of-pocket prescription drug costs for Medicare recipients and a new corporate minimum tax.
But Sen. Tina Smith said she’s most proud of the provisions in the bill relating to clean energy and climate. Smith said the bill is the single-most significant piece of legislation relating to energy independence and clean power ever in this country.
Smith also said the law aims to reduce carbon emissions by up to 40 percent by 2030.
