(KFGO/KNFL) Fargo native Tyler Kleven has earned a spot for Team USA in the upcoming IIHF World Junior Championships which begin this week in Edmonton, Alberta.
Kleven completed his sophomore season at UND this past spring, where he tallied seven goals and three assists. He also led UND with a +17 rating. Kleven played for Team USA at the World Juniors during his freshmen season at UND, as Team USA won the gold medal.
The 2022 version of the World Junior Championships were scheduled for late December through early January last winter but were postponed due to COVID-19 concerns.
Former Fargo Force defenseman Jack Peart also earned a spot on the Team USA roster. Peart, who won Minnesota’s “Mr. Hockey” award in 2021, played parts of two seasons with the Force before playing last season at St. Cloud State.
Team USA will play Germany on Tuesday night in its opening game in Edmonton.
