FARGO (KFGO) – Officials in Cass County are blaming delays in reporting election results on the large number of contests that were available to vote on in the 2022 Primary Election.
A release from the county says North Dakota Century Code requires that they generate reports from all machines that were available at voting centers throughout the county and with the large number of contests found on the Primary Election ballot, each report took from 90 to 120 minutes to complete and print. Once that process was completed, the totals needed to be brought to the Cass County Courthouse to be tabulated.
KFGO News observed voters still voting at 7:50pm Tuesday after being in line for nearly an hour at the West Acres location. Elections coordinator DeAnn Buckhouse confirmed that the West Acres votes were the last to be tabulated.
Cass County Election Officials say they will be working to make this process more efficient for the 2022 General Election in November to avoid similar delays.
