FARGO (KFGO) – With over 9,000 signatures collected, the campaign supporting a marijuana legalization measure announced it has collected more than half of the 15,582 valid signatures needed to qualify for the November ballot.
New Approach North Dakota said they are confident most of its signatures will be validated and counted by the North Dakota Secretary of State prior to the July 11 deadline. The campaign said they use “rigorous compliance protocols” that require each petition circulator to complete training prior to gathering signatures, and all signatures are subjected to a thorough internal validation process.
“We are grateful to the thousands of North Dakotans who have signed our petition to put a responsible cannabis legalization measure on the ballot this November,” said David Owen, campaign manager for New Approach North Dakota. “Thanks to voters’ overwhelming support for sensible reform, we have been able to reach the halfway point of our signature drive in just over 40 days. But we have a lot more work to do this month, which is why we’re excited to announce an easy way for voters to sign our petition at several drive-thru signing events this weekend.”
The campaign also announced a series of “drive thru” signing events around the state beginning this weekend in Fargo, Bismarck, and Grand Forks.
