CAVALIER, N.D. (KFGO) – Two Minnesota National Guard helicopters have used to place two 5-ton pumps near the Bourbanis Dam in northeastern North Dakota through the Emergency Management Assistance Compact.
The CH-47 Chinook helicopters assisted the North Dakota Guard in putting the pumps into position. The pumps will begin the draw-down of the dam’s pool to lessen the flow on the damaged spillway.
The remaining dams on the Tongue River are still performing as designed and levels will be closely watched.
