Catie Sinner launched a two-run homer well beyond the center field fence to give Central Cass a walk-off win over Hankinson 9-7 Tuesday afternoon in ‘B’ Region 1 girls’ softball.
Extra innings were needed to decide the game as it was tied 5-5 at the end of seven. Mary Rupp smashed a two-run dinger in the top of the eighth to give the Pirates a brief 7-5 lead.
The Squirrels’ final rally started with a leadoff walk drawn by Peyton Nelson. Tori Richter followed with a single, and then Riley Holzer drove in Nelson and Richter with a double into left field to tie the game at 7-7. Sinner strode to the plate next and took Kirstan Loewen yard to punctuate the Squirrels’ dramatic comeback.
Loewen and Richter both threw complete games; Loewen struck out six and Richter fanned five.
Rupp sprayed four hits in the loss; her teammate Kya Mauch had a solo home run in the fourth.
