DILWORTH, Minn. (KFGO) โ The Executive Director of the Kurdish American Development Organization has announced his campaign for the Northwestern Minnesota Senate District 4 seat that will be open following the retirement of State Sen. Kent Eken of Audubon.
Kawar Farok is running for the Democratic-Farmer-Labor endorsement for the seat that serves Clay and Becker counties.
In a statement posted to Facebook, Farok, who grew up in Moorhead and has lived in the area for nearly 30 years, said his priorities include voter rights and the expansion of affordable and accessible healthcare.
โIโll never let our kids down,โ Farok said. โAll children deserve high quality public education regardless of their zip code. Agriculture is the backbone of our economy and I will work to ensure our farmers have all the tools and resources necessary to succeed.โ
Farok said he is eager to meet with the public to find out what issues are important to them.
โIโm eager to work hard for the people of District 4,โ Farok said. โYour voices are going to shape my campaign and make Minnesota the best it can be.
