BISMARCK (KFGO) – State leaders participated in a White House virtual event Friday to provide on-the-ground examples of the benefits of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law for North Dakotans.
Rural Development Director Erin Oban expressed appreciation to the Biden administration and Senators Hoeven and Cramer for their support of the bill, which is expected to bring $2 billion in investments to the state.
Oban says small businesses in remote areas will finally have access to reliable, affordable internet, “like A Moment of Freedom in Buchanan, North Dakota which provides adaptive riding and equine therapy to individuals with special needs. That nonprofit’s owner said she had to travel 20 minutes to find quality internet to support her clients and organization prior to these improvements.”
North Dakota Farmer’s Union President Mark Watne says the law will help the state’s farmers and ranchers better connect to markets.
“In recent years we’ve had flooding – surprisingly in a drought – which has caused significant stress on our bridges and rural roads. The Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill provides $1.7 billion for North Dakota’s highways and $2.25 billion for bridge replacement and repairs,” Watne said.
Watne says the improvements will help North Dakota’s producers be more competitive in international market now and in the future.
