MINNEAPOLIS – Minnesota’s ethanol industry wants to help bring the record-high fuel prices down.
Tim Rudnicki of the Minnesota Bio-Fuels Association said the state has incredible production capacity.
“In terms of what we’re doing – or could do – in Minnesota, ethanol is produced in 19 plants,” Rudnicki said. “We have a capacity, as of 2021, actual production of just over 1.2 billion gallons.”
Rudnicki says the government could provide some regulatory relief to make 15% ethanol – or E-15- more widely available. The ban on Russian oil represents about 8% of US oil imports.
