Ski Rescue (Inver Grove Heights Fire Department)
INVER GROVE HEIGHTS, Minn. – A cross country skier is alive and well after falling through thin ice and into the Mississippi River.
The unidentified man was crossing the river at Inver Grove Heights when the ice underneath him gave way and he began screaming for help. The local fire and rescue team responded, with one firefighter going into the river wearing a special rescue suit and others pulling a rescue line to get him out.
He was able to walk on his own but was still transported to a local hospital for observation.
