CASSELTON, ND – Kindred kept their perfect record intact Tuesday night as they held off their bitter rivals Central Cass 70-56 in Region 1 girls’ basketball.
The Vikings held a 15-point lead at the half. The Squirrels rallied late in the fourth quarter, relying on their relentless defense to force of bevy of turnovers, but Kindred’s excellent free throw shooting down the stretch earned coach Sam Brandt her 100th career win.
Kindred (16-0 overall, 8-0 Region 1) was led by senior forward Abby Duchscherer with 25 points. Senior forward Tina Freier put up 20 points while senior center Terryn Johnson added 15 for the Vikings.
The Squirrels (13-2 overall, 5-1 Region 1) were led by junior forward Decontee Smith with 11 points. Junior forward Klaire Cotton added 10 points off the bench.
The Vikings will next travel to May-Port-C-G on Friday, February 4th.
Central Cass will host Tri-State on Saturday, February 5th.
