FARGO, N.D. (KFGO) – Fargo Businesswoman, attorney, and state lawmaker Shannon Roers-Jones is the first candidate to officially announce candidacy for mayor. The Republican was first elected to the Legislature in 2016 and re-elected in 2020.
“As a business leader and attorney, I know that public service is not a career,” said Roers Jones. “I’m running for mayor because it’s time for fresh leadership to unlock Fargo’s unlimited potential,” she added.
Roers-Jones was raised in Fargo and built a career as a real estate broker and general counsel for Roers Construction and Development. She made her first appearance as a mayoral candidate on KFGO’s News and Views with Joel Heitkamp Tuesday morning.
Mayor Tim Mahoney is expected to run again. City Commissioner Arlette Preston is eyeing the race along with city commissioner Dave Piepkorn.
The election is on June 11th.
