MINNEAPOLIS – A federal judge has sentenced a 36-year-old Chisago County man to 14 years in prison for a road rage incident that happened last year.
Derrick Hoff entered a guilty plea to a charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm. Police say Hoff was driving a pickup in July 2020 when he ran another vehicle off the road, fired multiple shots at the two occupants, and used the pickup to ram the vehicle. He then left his truck behind and took off on foot.
Because he had three felony convictions in Anoka, Chisago and Isanti counties, he was prohibited from possessing firearms at the time of the road rage incident.
