Cass County State's Attorney Birch Burdick
FARGO (KFGO) – For the first time since 1998, Cass County State’s Attorney Birch Burdick will not be on the ballot next year.
Burdick tells KFGO News, he has decided not to run for a 6th four-year term. Burdick says he loves the job, but he would be 71 at the end of another term. He says he’s looking forward to doing other things.
Burdick says he informed county commissioners of his decision in a letter. Burdick oversaw several high-profile cases during his time in office, including the murders of Savanna Greywind and Fargo dentist Philip Gatusso.
His late father, Quentin, was a US Senator for more than 30 years. His mother, Jocelyn, was appointed to the Senate after the death of his father.
Burdick’s current term expires in December of next year.
