FARGO (KFGO) – A man and a woman are dead and a man is in police custody after a shooting at a business Wednesday afternoon.
It happened at Composite America, 401 27th St. N, shortly after 2.
Police Chief Dave Zibolski says a 35-year-old man entered the business and shot the victims. He says the woman died at the scene of the shooting while the man died at a hospital. The suspect, identified as Anthony Reese of Moorhead, turned himself in at the police station not long after the shooting was reported. Reese is facing a pair of murder charges. The weapon was recovered.
Reese is a low-risk sex offender. He was convicted of third-degree criminal sexual conduct in Benton County, Minnesota in 2014 and has to register as a sex offender until 2029. He also has convictions of domestic assault, an ineligible person in possession of a firearm, drug sales, and possession, and violating no-contact orders.
Zibolski says he’s unsure about the relationship between Reese and the victims. Composite America manufactures components used in the automotive industry.
The shooting prompted a massive law enforcement response with police officers and squads blocking streets in the vicinity of the shooting. The fire department also had first responders and trucks on the scene. Sanford Ambulance dispatched two large critical incident response vehicles until it was determined that there were no additional victims and the suspect was in custody.
