GLASGOW, Scotland — The United Nations Climate Change Conference in Glasgow, Scotland welcomed a delegation from Minnesota Tuesday, which presented a panel discussion on the Enbridge Line 3 tar sands oil pipeline.
Indigenous leaders, Minnesota lawmakers, educators, and researchers talked about the pipeline that carries tar sands oil from Canada to a terminal in Superior, Wisconsin. The group offered comments connecting the pipeline and the ongoing climate crisis happening worldwide. They say it has already caused environmental damage in northern Minnesota.
Fourth District Congresswoman Betty McCollum was part of a delegation of 21 Democrats headed by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. That group has been taking part in meetings, panels, and other talks with global leaders.
