WEST FARGO, N.D. (KFGO) – The West Fargo Police Department has given updates on the new Department Headquarters at 1201 10th Ave. E.
West Fargo City Commissioners were updated with building design information, new mock photos of the site, and health advantages for the firefighters themselves by West Fargo Fire Chief Dan Fuller.

West Fargo Fire Chief Dan Fuller
“We’ve reviewed current standards for firefighter health and safety. Firefighter cancer rates are through the roof compared to the general population. It has increased at least over one-fold in a lot of firefighter cancers. Prostate, Stomach, Testicular, Breast, Brain, and Malignant Melanoma cancer are just a few examples. We know it’s from the environment we work in, we can’t control the environment on-scene but we can control how we safely decontaminate ourselves when we get back to the fire station and that is part of this plan,” said Fuller
“Fire station design has changed quite a bit in the last 5 years. There are changes that some experts can see happening going forward as well. We’re making sure this building will fit those needs in the future,” added Fuller
Fuller says the new station will accommodate the growing city and that additional staff would not be hired until 2023.
Construction is planned to begin this spring with the goal of having the project completed by the spring of 2023.
