SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – North Dakota State senior Aly Cole was named the TicketSmarter Summit League Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, league officials announced on Monday.
Cole had a career game in her final appearance for NDSU. The goalkeeper finished with a career-high 15 saves and recorded the first clean sheet for the Bison this season in a 1-0 double-overtime victory over St. Thomas.
The Andover, Minn. native made multiple key saves in the victory over the Tommies, including a diving effort to push the ball just past the post in the 83rd minute to keep the game level. NDSU would go on to win the game in the 101st minute.
Cole’s 15 saves tied for the third most saves in a game in Bison history and the most in NDSU’s Division I era, breaking the previous mark of 13 set on three different occasions.
Monday’s honor is the first career Summit League weekly award for Cole and the only honor for the Bison this season.
The NDSU Soccer team’s season wrapped up on Sunday.
