Duluth Homeless Encampment Fire (Duluth Fire Department)
DULUTH, Minn. – Duluth Fire Department crews responded to a smoky fire at a homeless encampment Monday after receiving multiple 9-1-1 calls from drivers on the nearby Interstate 35.
The cause of that fire is being investigated. Firefighters say they had to remove several propane tanks at the location. The people living at the encampment had left and no injuries were reported.
The emergency crews say they had to deal with dangerous conditions caused by “drug paraphernalia and multiple sources of fuel, including propane and gasoline.” A construction crew working in the area helped put out the flames by providing water from a tanker truck.
