ST. PAUL. MINN. – Minnesota Republicans say Crackdown on criminals in the wake of a mass shooting in Saint Paul that left one dead and 12 injured, including two shooters.
Michelle Benson, Ham Lake Senator, and candidate for governor points out those arrested have criminal records.
She says “The problem goes beyond a lack of police officers. I think it also includes prosecutors not charging to the full extent possible, and judges not trying to keep criminals off the street during this time when we really need to get crime under control.”
Democratic Senator Sandy Pappas, who represents the district where the shooting occurred, says it’s too easy to get a gun, legally and illegally and there are too many guns in society. She says people have to be elected who care more about gun safety than they do about so-called “Second Amendment rights.”
