GRAND FORKS, N.D. (KFGO) โ The man convicted of killing 29-year-old Grand Forks Police Officer Cody Holte has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Northeast Central District Judge Don Hagar handed down the sentence to Salamah Pendleton Friday morning.
Prior to sentencing, several family members of Holte asked the court for the maximum sentence allowed. They talked about the pain and suffering they have endured since his death, how their lives have changed, and the anger they try to overcome.
Pendleton apologized for his actions saying he made a bad decision that day.
Pendleton faced a total of nine charges, including a second count of murder for the shooting death of his 61-year-old mother, Lola Moore.
Law enforcement officers were trying to serve eviction papers at Pendletonโs apartment in May 2020 when he opened fire.
