ELKHORN, Neb. – The North Dakota State women’s golf team is in first place after day one of the Stampede at the Creek at Indian Creek Golf Course.
The Bison registered rounds of 304 and 296 to finish with a two-round score of 600 to earn the top spot. Weber State (301-302—603) and Creighton (299-304—603) finished three strokes back tied for second place.
Leah Skaar, who matched a career-best first round score of 73, is positioned in third place with a score of 147. Jo Baranczyk connected on a tournament-best six birdies and is tied for ninth place after notching a two-round score of 151. Catherine Monty came in tied for 13th place with a score of 153, while Maddie Herzog was slotted in 17th place with a score of 154. Lexi Geolat rounded out the group tied for 28th with a score of 162.
Ava Wallerich, who competed as an individual, posted a season-best 76 in the opening round and finished the day with a two-round score of 158 is tied for 21st place. Elise Hoven also played as an individual and is tied for 24th place with a two-round score of 159.
As a team, NDSU connected on a tournament-high 16 birdies to go along with 44 pars on the par 72 course.
The Bison will be back in action tomorrow to wrap up play at the Stampede at the Creek at Indian Creek Golf Course.
