Colts quarterback Carson Wentz was unable to finish yesterday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams after sustaining an ankle injury. Now, we’ve learned that both ankles are less than 100% healthy.
Colts coach Frank Reich told reporters Monday that Wentz suffered sprains to both ankles. Wentz awkwardly rolled his right ankle when he was forced to the ground by Rams DL Aaron Donald late in the fourth quarter of LA’s 27-24 win.
Wentz has been pressured relentlessly through the Colts’ first two games. He’s been hit a total of 21 times so far, as Indianapolis has shuffled offensive linemen around in the wake of numerous injuries.
Despite receiving subpar protection, Wentz has maintained an admirable 95.0 passer rating, completing 65.9% of his passes for 498 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception.
The 0-2 Colts will try for their first win of the season next Sunday at Tennessee. Wentz’s status for that game is uncertain.
