EAGAN, Minn. – The Eagan Police Department says its officers rescued an unconscious driver from a car that was sinking in a holding pond.
The incident happened Monday afternoon at about 1:00 p-m near Highway 13. Investigators say the driver suffered a medical emergency that caused him to accelerate along the wrong lane of the highway, drive down a hill, and into the seven-foot-deep pond.
When a 9-1-1 caller reported what occurred, officers happened to be in the area and were able to quickly respond. They swam out to the vehicle and, because the car window was open, they were able to unbuckle the seat belt and pull the driver out before his car sank.
The victim is reported to be in stable condition at a local hospital. His name hasn’t been released.
