Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN)
LAKE ITASCA, Minn. – Congresswoman Ilhan Omar and fellow members of “The Squad” are in northern Minnesota today voicing opposition to Enbridge’s Line 3 pipeline and meeting with Indigenous leaders.
8th District Republican Congressman Pete Stauber criticized their visit, saying, “‘we’re gonna protect good paying jobs and we are gonna protect these skilled workers.” Omar says she’s standing up for Indigenous people, who say the pipeline threatens sacred tribal lands.
The Minnesota Democrat led a letter to the White House this week asking for intervention to stop construction on the pipeline.
