Greenwood Fire update (Minnesota National Guard)
ISABELLA, Minn. – Crews are making progress battling the Greenwood fire in northeastern Minnesota.
It was 37-percent contained Tuesday night and more than 500 firefighters are assigned to the wildfire. Information Officer Clark McCreedy says if the weather continues to cooperate, the focus Wednesday will again be strengthening containment lines on the fire’s northeast and east sides — the area closest to the town of Isabella.
More rain is in the forecast tomorrow for Thursday. McCreedy says they’re prepared, if winds shift to the north, to move resources to battle the fire on its southern side, where containment lines are not yet complete.
