FARGO (KFGO) – First-day enrollment at NDSU included a freshman class of 2,521, which was 8% higher than last year.
The number of students transferring to NDSU was also up 8%, and new graduate students rose by 7%. New international students were up 57% according to figures released Tuesday by the university.
Overall, first-day enrollment was 12,390 as compared to 12,712 last school year. Enrollment is the lowest at NDSU in more than a decade. Declining enrollment was one factor cited by the state board of higher education when it recently decided not to extend the contract of President Dean Bresciani.
The university expects to have final enrollment numbers in late September.
