ROCHESTER, MINN – The 38-year-old man known as the “tallest man in America” has died.
His mother says Igor Vovkovinskiy died of heart disease Friday in Rochester. Vovkovinskiy moved to Minnesota from Ukraine when he was seven years old. A tumor in his pituitary gland caused him to grow to seven feet, eight inches tall.
Vovkovinskiy appeared in the 2011 film “Hall Pass” and made another public appearance at the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest. He got further public attention when he tried to get new shoes to fit his size 24 feet in 2012.
