Greenwood Fire (U.S. Forest Service-Superior National Forest)
ISABELLA, Minn. – The Greenwood Fire in northeastern Minnesota continues to grow and is now more than 82-hundred acres.
Sarah Shapiro with Superior National Forest says it’s very important the public observe closure areas along State Highway 1 and County Highway 2. She says “we need those areas closed not only for safety, but so firefighters can respond and access the fire area quickly, without people getting in the way.” More than 100 homes and cabins in the area have been evacuated.
Officials say 320 personnel are battling the fire with three aircraft and 38 fire engines. The North Shore received some rainfall Friday night.
