FARGO, N.D. – The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks (49-35) followed up a 20 run outburst Wednesday with a rubber match win over Kane County Cougars (38-45) on Thursday afternoon.
After the game quickly got to a 2-2 tie the defense of both teams took over. Both centerfielders stole hits, as well as infielders and other outfields. CF Will Zimmerman made his return from injury and went 0/0 for Fargo-Moorhead while coming in to steal a hit and a run in the 5th. CF Anfernee Seymour made a run-saving, extra-base hit stealing diving play in the ally as well for Kane County. The tie was broke up by OF John Silviano who took a bases-loaded walk in the 5th. Silviano would also homer in the 8th, his second of the day, and the second time in two days he would hit two home runs.
LHP Matt Tomshaw (2-0) started and won his second game since his return to Fargo-Moorhead and allowed only two runs on five hits while striking out seven batters in six innings pitched and got the win. RHP Josh Tols started for Kane County and took the loss falling to 3-6.
The Redhawks start a weekend home series against the Houston Apollos Friday night. First pitch in scheduled for 7:02 pm with the pre game show starting at 6:40 pm on 740TheFan.
