Today and Thursday, U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack will travel to California.
On Wednesday, Secretary Vilsack will join Governor Gavin Newsom for a briefing on the August Complex in Glenn County. After the briefing, Secretary Vilsack and Governor Newsom will hold a press conference. That afternoon, Secretary Vilsack will travel to Helena, where he will be joined by U.S. Congressman Mike Thompson (CA-5) at Chappellet Winery to talk with producers who have been impacted by drought and fire damage. Secretary Vilsack and Congressman Thompson will be joined by Forest Service Fire Chief Randy Moore.
On Thursday, Secretary Vilsack will travel to Fresno where he will join U.S. Congressman Jim Costa (CA-16) for a tour of TerraNova Ranch in Helm. There, they will discuss impact of drought and need for climate resilient infrastructure.
