Enbridge Line 3 Replacement Project
AITKIN, Minn. – Authorities in Aitkin County are considering charges against two protesters who climbed inside the Enbridge Energy pipeline Sunday near the Willow River.
Officials say the pipe was capped at one end, creating a trapped-air environment that had reached almost 130 degrees with limited oxygen. The two people refused to leave, twice, before they were finally pulled out. They had told members of the Northern Lights Task Force they had only three-and-a-half minutes of oxygen left in their respirators.
The task force said they were showing signs of fatigue and heatstroke.
