Minnesota Wild Drafts Goalie and Defenseman in 1st Round
(St. Paul, MN) — The Minnesota Wild used its two first-round draft selections on a goalie and defenseman Friday night. Before their first pick, the Wild took their 22nd and 90th picks and sent them to Edmonton to move up to 20th overall to take goalie Jesper Wallstedt of Lulea of the Swedish Hockey League. Wallstedt was ranked first among European goalies.
Minnesota then took defenseman Carson Lambos from Winnipeg of the Western Hockey League at number 26. Lambos was the 11th ranked North American skater.
The Wild has seven more selections today (Saturday) in rounds two through seven of the NHL Entry Draft. The first is number-54 overall in the second.
