Minnesota Wild Expansion Protection List Released
(St. Paul, MN) — The Minnesota Wild’s expansion protection list was released yesterday morning. The team is protecting seven forwards, three defensemen, and a goaltender. The Minnesota list includes forwards Kevin Fiala, Joel Eriksson Ek, Marcus Faligno (fuh-lee-noh), Jordan Greenway, Ryan Hartman, Nico Sturm, and Mats Zuccarello. Jonas Brodin , Matt Dumba and Jared Spurgeon are the protected defensemen. Cam Talbot is the Wild goalie on the protected list.
That leaves Minnesota defenseman Carson Soucy (soo-see), goaltender Kaapo Kahkonen , and forwards Victor Rask and Nick Bjugstad available for the draft.
The Seattle Kraken start the Expansion Draft on Wednesday night, when they will select one player from each NHL team other than the Vegas Golden Knights, who are exempt from the draft. Every other NHL team will have one player chosen by Seattle. The Kraken will choose a total of 30 players, including 14 forwards, nine defensemen, and three goalies.
