WASHINGTON – Seventh District Congresswoman Michelle Fischbach and Representatives Tom Emmer and Pete Stauber urging President Biden not to extend travel restrictions along the Canadian border.
The lawmakers point to progress in vaccinations and continually-low infection rates. The Minnesota Republicans say if a phased re-opening of the border to non-essential travel cannot be established, Biden should “allow the restrictions to expire in order to restore travel between one of our closest trading partners.”
Senator Amy Klobuchar is also pushing for the lifting of border restrictions. Canada’s prime minister proposed allowing fully-vaccinated Americans into the country by mid-August.
