Grand Forks: American Legion Post 6 will conduct ceremonies at 9 a.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery North, east of the fountain. The cemetery is east of Columbia Road, between 10th Avenue North and Gateway Drive.
East Grand Forks: 11 a.m. ceremony at Resurrection Cemetery; the event will feature a reading of the names of veteran members who died in the past year and rifle firing by the honor guard of American Legion Post 157 and VFW Post 3817.
Crookston: Crookston Veterans Council will conduct a traditional ceremony and program at 10 a.m. at Oakdale Cemetery. The event will take place, rain or shine.
Polk County: Ceremonies arranged by the VFW, to include an honor guard and prayer, are planned at these cemeteries: 8:30 a.m. at Bethany South and 8:45 a.m. at Bethany North; 9 a.m. at Czech National at Tabor; 9:15 a.m. at Holy Trinity Presbyterian at Tabor; 9:25 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church at Tabor; 9:50 a.m. at Nesbit Cemetery; and 10:20 a.m. at Rest Haven Cemetery.
Aneta: Ceremonies begin at 11 a.m., City Auditorium. The guest speaker is Sgt. 1C Chris Coombs, North Dakota Army National Guard. Following the program, a ham and scalloped potato dinner will be served by the cemetery auxiliary.
Devils Lake: A program will be held at 11 a.m. at the Devils Lake Cemetery, including the placing of memorial wreaths. The VFW Post 756 and its auxiliary, as well as the local American Legion, are sponsoring the event, which includes the VFW Honor Guard, a rifle salute and Taps.
Grafton: Ceremonies begin at at Oakwood Cemetery at 7:45 a.m.; St. Johnโs Catholic Church Cemetery, 8:30 a.m.; Grafton City Cemetery, 9 a.m.; Grafton Lutheran Cemetery, 9:20 a.m.; Leistikow Park, 9:45 a.m.; Walsh County Courthouse, 10 a.m. A program at 11 a.m. will be followed with lunch served by American Legion Post 41 Auxiliary at Frosty Fox Restaurant; the program will be broadcast by KXPO Radio.
Lakota: A program will be held at 11 a.m. at the Lakota Community Center, sponsored by the Rundell Holicky American Legion Post 21. A memorial service will be held at the Lakota Cemetery immediately following the program. Memorial services will be held at various cemeteries in the area that morning. The American Legion Auxiliary will serve a ham and scalloped potato dinner at noon at the Lakota Legion Club.
McVille: A program starts at 11 a.m. at McVille Lutheran Church, arranged by McVille American Legion Ole Semling Post 135. Memorial services will be held at various cemeteries in the area that morning. Following the program, the American Legion Auxiliary will serve a ham and scalloped potato dinner.
Michigan: Services will be conducted by W.L. Cowper American Legion Post 238 at area cemeteries in the morning, with a final service at 11:45 at the Michigan cemetery. A Memorial Day program at the Michigan Civic Center will follow.
Northwood: A program will be presented by American Legion Post 92 at 10:30 a.m. at Northwood City Cemetery, featuring speakers, music, a floral presentation and rifle salute. After the program the American Legion Post 92 Auxiliary will serve a meal at the Northwood Community Center; takeout meals also will be available.
Roseau: There will be an 8:30 a.m. Memorial Day radio message on Wild 102.1; a 9 a.m. parade starts at the Fire Hall and continues to Center Street Bridge, where the program will include a tribute to those military servicemen who lost their lives at sea, a performance of the national anthem, and the Roll Call of Honor, a recitation of the names of veterans who have died in the past year.
Thief River Falls: A program, beginning at 10:30 a.m., Greenwood Cemetery, is sponsored by American Legion Post 117 and VFW Post 2793. The guest speaker will be Millie Reierson, retired captain, U.S. Army. Also planned will be patriotic music by the combined Northland Community and high school bands, under the direction of Linda Samuelson, and an invocation and benediction by Ron Pilcher, chaplain, American Legion Post 117.
Tolna: The American Legion will hold services at various cemeteries in the area that morning and its auxiliary will host a dinner at 11:30 a.m. at the Tolna Events Center.
