ST. PAUL, Minn. – Secretary of State Steve Simon is among election officials calling for the U-S Senate to pass legislation that would block alleged “voter suppression” attempts across the country.
The “For the People Act” aims to get dark money out of politics, crackdown on corruption, protect voting rights and ensure elections are safe, accessible and accurate.
Simon says the measure would also protect and expand voting from home and provide for secure, accessible drop boxes for absentee ballot returns. Simon says it would also prevent long wait times at the polls.
A Senate committee could advance the bill to the floor Tuesday, but all Republicans oppose it.
